Welcome to my website!

Hope you enjoy my website that is set up for you to follow me and my cycling! Im this year riding for the belgium pro-team Lotto-Belisol, and I will try to keep you updated through the year with my racing across Europe.

01.07.08    2nd in the norwegian championship!

On Saturday I did the national road championship in Bergen, and it was a good but very  hard and challenging course! We did 8 laps in a 9.5km long circuit, that started off in a 2 km climb with 5 to 8% gradient, followed by a undulating section before we started some steep and technical descending. The circuit ended  with a climb between 15-21(!)% with 300-400m to the finish from the top of the climb.

The girls were riding good, and already on the first lap the bunch was getting smaller. I felt good this day and had good legs! But the race wasnt going as ”smooth” as I was hoping. In the first lap up the steep climb before starting 2nd lap my chain snapped off, and I thought the race was over. But with a great effort of Jarle, my mechanic in the car, he got me back into the race after managing to relink my chain! I started to try and chase back on  3.30min behind the bunch. Because it was the nationals and early in the race I thought I wanted to give it a try even if I was going to use half the race to get back on -which Im very happy I did. I managed to get back on after only 1.5 laps. I was pretty tired after that, and used some time to try and recover a bit. But it was still a good pace in the group, especially in the climbs, so about 3 laps to go we were down to 6 girls. This group stayed together to the finish. Up the last steep climb before the finish Hege Linn was going pretty hard with Anita following, and I got myself in 3rd position before the top of the climb. On the top Anita opened the sprint, I followed, passed Hege Linn but didnt manage to pass Anita the last meters. Anita got in to a well earned  1st  place, while I finished on 2nd place! Congratulations to Anita for the national jersey! Im very happy for my race, but 2nd is bitter sweet, and I will try again next year for the jersey;)

18.06.08 3rd place in Borgerhout!

Back in Belgium after having a really good trainingblock in Norway, and Im finally finding myself getting into some better form towards  the nationals which is coming up on the 28th of june! Did two races on the weekend, the AA drink race in Passendale on Saturday and Borgerhout on Sunday.

Saturday we had Kathy in a break of  4, and I finished in the bunch in 15th place. On Sunday we were 4 riders from Lotto and we all tried to get away, and it seemed to be a day were no break would get away. About 4 laps to go I went with the belgian champion and found myself in a break with four riders, while one girl was already up the road by herself. We didnt manage to chase her back, and I got second in the sprint and finished 3rd overall, while Emma took the bunchsprint for 6th place. So a good day for Lotto and for myself as I got my first podium finish for the year!

17.06.08

16.05.08 Training in Norway

I came back to Norway this week, and will be here some few weeks for training, especially to do some more climbing. I will also do Eidsvollrittet that my club is organising on the 23th till the 25th of may. It is one of the biggest cup-races we got, and as my first race in Norway for the season it is going to be good to see the other girls and everybody I know in the cycling back here.

10.05.08 Settled in Belgium

I have been in Belgium for about a month and have settled in where I will be based when Im Belgium. Im staying in Ninova which is about 25km from Brussels. Its a nice area for training, in the middle of the "Ronde van Vlaanderen" course and its a central place for racing in Belgium and the rest of Europe. The racing with the team has been really good, and some of the races I have done is Ronde van Drenthe and the w-cup, Omloop van Borsele and Ronde van Gelderland, and Im really looking forward to the rest of the season with my team.
